Andy Serkis’ ANIMAL FARM Final Trailer: Animals Incite Revolution
The animals have had enough. Derived from George Orwell’s incendiary 1945 novella of the same name comes a reimagined cautionary tale—one in animated form. The final trailer for Andy Serkis’ Animal Farm shows a legion of farm animals as they fight back against a corrupt hierarchy.
The Animal Farm trailer begins with what I can only imagine to be every farm animal’s worst nightmare: a trip to the slaughterhouse. After busting free from the truck, the animals set out to build a new world. A better one. They work together to create a new society in which “every animal is equal.” That dream is short-lived. The farm descends into a dictatorship as the pigs climb for power and leadership. “Every animal is equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” The only way to take power back is by inciting a revolution. Gaten Matarazzo voices Lucky, the pig responsible for leading that revolution.

Trailer for Andy Serkis’ Animated ANIMAL FARM Is So WrongOrwell’s original 1945 novella, which I’m sure most of us were required to read sometime during school, is a powerful political commentary on the dangers of communism. From director Andy Serkis, that tale is reshaped to fit today’s climate and reach a younger audience. Honestly, we’re still not sure exactly what to make of it. The first Animal Farm trailer was met with a heap of mixed reviews, though the second may have won a couple of points back. Regardless, the animated retelling does boast a pretty remarkable cast. Seth Rogen is the pig famously known as Napoleon. Joining him is Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, Laverne Cox, Kieran Culkin, Woody Harrelson, Jim Parsons and Andy Serkis.
The official synopsis for the movie is as follows: “A satirical allegory of revolution and power. Animal Farm traces how a movement for equality is systematically corrupted. As the pigs consolidate control, truth is erased, dissent is crushed, and the farm descends into a ruthless dictatorship—fulfilling Orwell’s warning about the dangers of communism.”
Angel StudiosWho would’ve imagined 2026 would be the year we would get an animated feature film of Animal Farm—one targeted toward kids, nonetheless. I still find it very interesting, but I guess we won’t really know until we see it. The story received an animated version once before in 1954. Nearly 75 years later, the message rings just as powerful as ever. If you want to pick up the book in preparation for the movie, you can do so here.
Animal Farm rolls into theaters on May 1, 2026.

THE VAMPIRE LESTAT Teaser: Daniel Molloy Says ‘It’s a Great F*cking Read.’
Interview with the Vampire season two is one of the finest TV shows we’ve ever seen. The dramatic, queer, and rich world of the show aged like fine wine from its first to second seasons. And that makes us especially excited to see what Interview with the Vampire season three has in store for us. We don’t know too much about what awaits us yet, but we do know it will be sexy, stylish, and rock and roll.
In our latest tease for The Vampire Lestat, Eric Bogosian’s Daniel Molloy confirms that he’s really happy with how Interview with the Vampire came out. “Look, I only make great stuff,” he explains, offering that “When I do interviews, I have three jobs. One, get the story. Two, make sure it’s true. And three, make it interesting. And it’s all in that book… Except for some added material that I didn’t add.” As always, Daniel Molloy, we stan.
Here’s everything we know so far about Interview with the Vampire season three.
TitleNormally, for a season of TV, we’d skip the title section. But it’s Lestat’s world and we’re all just living in it. Interview with the Vampire season 3 will be called The Vampire Lestat, natch.
Interview with the Vampire Season 3 PlotVeering away from the inner-world of Louis de Pointe du Lac, season three of Interview with the Vampire is all Lestat, all the time. The Vampire Lestat, as we say. This season, Lestat, put out by his portrayal in Louis and Daniel Molloy’s book Interview with the Vampire is going on a rock star tour to correct the narrative. What could go wrong? Interview with the Vampire season three will be an adaptation of the novel The Vampire Lestat, but we’re sure it will make the book its own, as the prior seasons of the show have done with Interview with the Vampire.
AMCYou can catch the official Interview with the Vampire season three teaser trailer up top, and check out its official synopsis below:
In season three, resentful of the perfunctory portrayal in the trashy bestseller “Interview With The Vampire,” the Vampire Lestat sets his story straight in a way only the Vampire Lestat can—by starting a band and going on tour. Gabrielle. Nicholas. Magnus. Marius. Those Who Must Be Kept. They join Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed and others we can’t tell you about yet on a sexy pilgrimage across space, time and trauma. No Auto-Tuning. No Trigger Warnings. All Feels Amplified.“
Additionally, a new synopsis for The Vampire Lestat, released in celebration of The Vampire Lestat’s streaming debut, teases, “In the new rock and roll centric season, the Vampire Lestat goes on an electric multi-city tour while being haunted by ‘ muses’ from his wild and rebellious past. As his band’s popularity and star power rises, so does Lestat’s influence over vampires and humans alike, leaving others to contend with Lestat’s power in the face of the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population. In addition to Reid, The Vampire Lestat stars Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles and Jennifer Ehle and is executive produced by award-winning producer Mark Johnson, creator, writer and showrunner Rolin Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, along with Christopher Rice and the late Anne Rice.”
AMCWe’ve heard a little bit about “the Great Conversion” before. But it sounds like this new fluctuation in the vampire population is going to cause some serious trouble for Lestat and co. And we wonder what Lestat will do with all his new star power and influence… nothing too wild, obviously. We know Lestat isn’t like that…..
Behind the ScenesInterview with the Vampire season three is executive produced by Mark Johnson (who oversees AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe). Rolin Jones serves as creator, writer, and showrunner. Mark Taylor, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice also serve as executive producers.

SAILOR MOON Cat Plush Blesses Artemis II Mission Control Center
It wouldn’t be an important moment in nerd history if some fandom fun wasn’t in the room. Over the past days of the Artemis II moon mission, Sailor Moon fans have delightedly spotted an Artemis plush hanging out in the Artemis II Mission Control Center. And we’re pleased to report that Sailor Moon’s guardian cat, Artemis, was still present and watching over the proceedings as the four astronauts of Artemis II officially traveled farther from Earth than any humans in history—breaking the record set by Apollo 13 in 1970. Yes, Sailor Moon is forever a part of this crucial moment in space history, and we love it.
If you tune in to the NASA live-stream of Artemis II’s lunar flyover, that’s the part where they’ll finally see the moon clearly, and even travel behind it, to the dark side of the moon, you’ll be able to glimpse Sailor Moon‘s Artemis sitting behind the main line of scientists and mission control specialists in the Artemis Mission Control room. We love this adorable cat plush with a crescent moon decorating her forehead. Sadly, her counterpart, Luna, the sassy black cat, is nowhere to be found.
NASAIf you ask us, everything is better with some fandom. And there’s no better fandom to have in the room when going to the moon than Sailor Moon. The beloved manga/anime series tells the tale of a teenage girl who is tasked with protecting the Earth and given special moon powers to do so. She, along with her team of Sailor Scouts, all of whom draw their powers from a specific planet, fight evil, build bonds of friendship, and generally kick ass in style.

Here’s everything we know about Dune: Part Three so far.
Title Warner Bros./LegendaryThis Dune movie is based on Frank Herbert’s Dune: Messiah, his second novel in the series. Denis Villeneuve has also said he is not making a traditional trilogy with his three films, but rather that he made a “diptych” with his first two installments. However, the film’s official title still seemingly makes it read as the third movie in a trilogy. It’s called Dune: Part Three.
Dune: Part Three‘s Plot Warner Bros./LegendaryWhile there is no official synopsis for the film yet, Villeneuve is adapting Frank Herbert’s Dune: Messiah. The director has said the movie will take place roughly 12 years after the end of Part Two, be “completely different” from the first two movies, and “will finish the Paul Atreides arc.”
Warner Bros./LegendaryChanges Villeneuve made in his first two movies will have a butterfly effect on Dune: Part Three, but the novel’s synopsis provides an idea of the general story. Here’s Dune: Messiah‘s synopsis from the official Frank Herbert website:
Dune Messiah continues the story of Paul Atreides, better known—and feared—as the man christened Muad’Dib. As Emperor of the known universe, he possesses more power than a single man was ever meant to wield. Worshipped as a religious icon by the fanatical Fremen, Paul faces the enmity of the political houses he displaced when he assumed the throne—and a conspiracy conducted within his own sphere of influence.
And even as House Atreides begins to crumble around him from the machinations of his enemies, the true threat to Paul comes to his lover, Chani, and the unborn heir to his family’s dynasty…

Kiana Madeira on MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE: LIFE’S STILL UNFAIR and FEAR STREET
The smell of sweet nostalgia is wafting into the air over at Hulu. The streaming service will delight a plethora of fans when Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, a revival miniseries, arrives on April 10. It shows us what life is like for Malcolm, who is all grown up like us. He’s been staying far, far away from his dysfunctional family for over a decade, but now he must return home for his parent’s 40th wedding anniversary. And he’s not coming alone. Malcolm has a loving girlfriend Tristian, played by the fabulous Kiana Madeira, and his teen daughter Leah (Keely Karsten). We caught up with Madeira to chat about what fans can expect in this revival, her nerdy activities, and if she’d ever return for another Fear Street film.
Nerdist: Before we get into Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, let’s talk about your origin story. Tell me about your journey to become an actress.
Kiana Madeira: I wanted to act since I was very small. I was a really shy kid. My parents would always ask my brother and I, “What do you want to do?” My brother was always about hockey, and I was like, “I want to be in movies,” because I was in love with John Travolta from Grease. I think every parent’s idea of what an actor’s supposed to be is usually the loud, outgoing kid. But I was really shy and quiet and reserved.
I did swimming lessons and rhythmic gymnastics. I was notorious for trying something and quitting. And I was still like, “I want to be in movies, I want to be an actor.” So when I was 10, I was a little bit more out of my shell, and [my parents] said okay, I think this is something she might actually want to do. They signed me up with an agency in Toronto, Canada, where I’m from. I started auditioning, and I took a lot of acting classes. When I was 17, I booked my first big role in Canada. It was a sitcom called Really Me, and that’s really when I started to fall in love [with acting].
I love that. You’ve had this long acting journey, and now you’re in Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, which is really exciting. Before joining this series, what did you know about Malcolm in the Middle? Was it a show that you were familiar with as a fan?
Madeira: I was such a fan! I grew up watching Malcolm in the Middle. It was always on at our house. I have this photo of myself in grade 5. Our teacher took a photo of us on the first day of school, and—I only realized this very recently—I was holding the Malcolm in the Middle paperback with Frankie Muniz on it…I am so excited and grateful to be a part of this revival. It’s such a full-circle moment for me.
That’s incredibly cool. Obviously, being a fan was probably one big reason why you signed on to play Tristan. But what was it about that role outside of that made you want to portray her, and what do you think fans will love about this character?
Madeira: I really wanted to play Tristan, because I think she’s a character who is pretty similar to myself energetically. I’ve played a lot of characters who are super tough and kind of confrontational and abrasive and have been through a lot. That’s not to say my character hasn’t been through a lot, because she has. [Viewers will] come to see that when they find out a little bit more about her. I love that she was also this bright light to Malcolm’s kind of chaos and overthinking tendencies.
HuluI love that Tristan is an anchor that keeps him focused and she speaks her mind. I think fans will really love Malcolm and Tristan’s dynamic, because she doesn’t ever want to change him. She loves all the things about him, like all his little nerdy-isms, his way of thinking, his way of being. She just lets Malcolm be Malcolm, but at the same time, she steers him in the right direction. I think that they play really well off of each other in that way.
That’s so lovely. Right now, we’re in a season right now of a bunch of reboots and revivals, right? They feel like they’re popping up almost every day! Why do you think now is the right time to bring Malcolm in the Middle’s universe back to television for a miniseries?
Madeira: I think there’s something so wonderful and comforting about nostalgia, especially when done right. The fact that it’s the original cast, I think, is huge. I don’t know how it would have been if they brought this show back with a different creator. We still have Linwood Boomer, who’s the show’s original creator and executive producer.
Original fans have always wondered what they’ve been up to, and now their questions will be answered in a way that stays true to the original show, but is still new and refreshing and exciting.

MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE: LIFE’S STILL UNFAIR Trailer Is a Chaotic Good TimeAwesome. You came into this established dynamic of people who have worked together before, even though it was many years ago. So they’re having this reunion, but you’re a new face. What was it like to find your place within that dynamic and work with people that you literally grew up watching on television?
Madeira: Thankfully, they’re all so kind and so welcoming. Mentally it was a little intimidating when I was on the plane to Vancouver to film. I was like, “Oh, I don’t know how everyone’s gonna be,” but immediately, everyone was so welcoming and so talented and professional. But they were also just there to have fun, which I really, really liked… There was so much room to just play and be joyful in the work.
But I also really love that Tristan is also meeting them for the first time, too. To me, I could just be present in this experience… It was actually easier for me to be taking it like Tristan is because I also did that as Kiana.
Oh, yeah, I love that! If you can describe the series in 3 words, which ones would you use?
Madeira: Oh, that’s a great question. The series, I would say, is… chaotic. Lovingly chaotic. We’ll count that as one. What else? Heartfelt. There’s a lot of heart in it, which is so true to the original as well. And nostalgic in the best way.
NetflixI absolutely love it. You said earlier that Tristan is very different from characters you’ve played before. I think a lot of our audience at Nerdist will recognize you from playing Deena Johnson in Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy. Would you ever reprise that role if there were a chance to be able to do so?
Madeira: 100%. Deena will always have such a special place in my heart. And to this day on TikTok, I’m always talking to fans about Fear Street. Everyone’s like, “Are you guys coming back?” And I’m like, “Well, you never know.”
I’m starting to get into producing now, so if there’s anything that I can do on my end to bring it back, I think there’s so much room to really play off of how the third movie ended off, like who took the book. There’s just so much room to play, especially with the different timelines. So I would 100% love to jump into Deena’s shoes again.
RELATED ARTICLE
FEAR STREET PART 1: 1994’s Best ’90s ReferencesThat would be exciting! Now, if there was a one-on-one battle between Tristan and Deena, who would win?
Madeira: It’s more complicated than it seems! I feel like at first glance, people would be like, oh, Deena for sure, but Tristan is a sleeper. I think Deena just went through way too much, she’s gonna fight to a different level. I’m gonna have to say Deena.
I don’t know, it feels a little bit more evenly matched than what it seems. Tristan is kind of a baddie. They are both baddies, really.
Madeira: Both baddies in their own right!
At Nerdist, we celebrate all things nerdy, from obvious things like comics and gaming to other niche interests like gardening. Kiana, what do you nerd out about the most?
Madeira: I definitely nerd out about acting. My husband, Lovell Adams-Gray, and I, we’re both actors, so we’re always nerding out about movies. We have movie journals. So when we go to the movies, we write down the director, starring cast, memorable quotes, favorite scenes, thoughts in general, and then we rate it out of 10.
So I think that’s pretty nerdy. People stop us after the theaters, because we’ll be the ones staying behind to finish our notes, and they’re like, “Are you guys journalists? Are you reviewing the film?” And we’re like, “Yeah, you could say that.”
I’m also a Super Mario fan. I love Mario Kart and Mario Party, and I will go on record and say that I will beat a lot of people on Mario Kart. I’m really good at Mario Kart, especially on the Switch. I play on the hard level, I don’t use the track guide, I can play without the track guide, so those who know, know that’s not easy.
Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair hits Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on April 10.

THE BOYS Season 5 Is Brutal, Bonkers, and Brilliant (Review)
It is incredibly rare for a television series to remain consistent with its overall quality for years and seasons at a time. Effective and even character and worldbuilding, delivering enthralling entertainment without sacrificing pacing, and giving its audience storytelling and emotional payoffs is not an easy feat to repeat. Since its debut in 2019, Prime Video’s The Boys has been the perfect example of TV done right: quality in each episode, supreme character development, wholly entertaining scenes that strike the balance between hilarious, disturbing, painful, and absurd, and stories that truly resonate.
That’s been true for the show’s first four seasons, and it remains so in The Boys season five’s first seven episodes. Even without seeing the series finale, I’m beyond confident that The Boys will go down in history as one of the greatest TV shows of the 21st century.
Things start off at a fever pitch in America. Half of the Boys are still in a “freedom camp” (read: detention center for anyone whom the government deems a “threat”) after a year, while the others are on their own emotional and mental journeys. After their reunion, they have to grapple with everything they’ve experienced to this point while fighting seemingly insurmountable forces. They find themselves divided on pretty much everything, from their macro mission to micro decision towards their ultimate goal: to kill Homelander.
Like those who champion for true freedom and equality, they wonder if their efforts are in vain and if it is even worth it to try to save people who don’t want to be saved. Religious zealotry, deadly groupthink, raging sexism, willful ignorance, and the almighty enemy called capitalism are just as massive as a seemingly unkillable and psychotic supe.
RELATED ARTICLE
5 BIG Questions That THE BOYS Season 5 Must AnswerSpeaking of him, Homelander has achieved almost everything he thought he wanted as he runs the country and controls the current POTUS and VP with Sage’s smarts driving him towards destruction. He’s becoming more unraveled by the second, realizing that all the power and influence in the world won’t heal his deep core wounds and delusions. Admittedly, The Boys season five can be hard to watch considering its parallels to our current political climate. But, it takes what we are seeing unfold in real-time and filters it through a superpowered lens, diving into what it means to live, to die, to believe, and to ultimately win.
The Boys doesn’t skimp on its elements that made it a global success. There’s plenty of blood, guts, diabolical moments, and sharp, witty dialogue. We get a lot of jokes and in-universe commercials/comments that clearly poke fun at our own f**ked up world. And, it doesn’t waste a single second of screentime, delivering humor, heart, and pure hell (in the best way) in every episode.
Boy, do I love how the series has stuck with an “eight episodes a season” format throughout its run. There’s no time for bulls**t as things move quicker than the A-Train, baby. There’s quality in every single one as the show honors fans’ staunch loyalty and thirst for questions that need answers.
Prime VideoBut this final round also gives us plenty of emotionally resonant moments as we dive deeper into the psyche of all of its primary and secondary characters. There’s darkness, liberation, realizations, revelations, and quite a few full circle moments for some satisfying and heartbreaking conclusions. Every single returning actor continues to bring their A+ game, and the new additions to this story provide the perfect setup for the Vought Rising prequel. There’s room for empathy with antagonistic forces and questioning the morality of protagonists, a rich soup of character complexity.
Solid and quality cameos, shocking twists, and a surefire trajectory towards a chaotic and cathartic ending, The Boys managed to achieve the impossible.
